Weight of rail

WEIGHT OF RAIL 

Rail are generally specified by their weight. For example 45R rail section means that weight of the rail section per metre length is 45 kg. The standard rail section used on Indian railway are given below



The weight of rail used in India is 45 kg for broad gauge broad gauge and 25kg to 30kg for metre gauge.


Weight of rail in kg =locomotive axle load x1000/510
