GRADE COMPENSATION OF CURVE
Grade compensation on curve is the reduction in gradient of curved portion of a track. On curve extra pull is required to pull the train due to more tractive resistance. Therefore if gradient are to be provided on curve some compensation should be given in rulling gradient to overcome that increased tractive resistance to a certain limit and to pull the train with same speed it is expressed as a percentage per degree of a curve. The grade compensation provided on Indian railway is as follows
1.On BG curves-0.04%/degree
2.on MG curves-0.03%/degree
3.on NG curves-0.02%/degree
